Dec 1, 2020 / Industry Insights / FOTW

Welcome to the Seventh part in our series of ‘Behind the [screens]’ an intro into the worlds of our super talented team here at FOTW and a little bit about them and what life looks like in lock down. Laice Gregory our super organised Lead Producer is up next to share her thoughts…

Name: Laice Gregory (Lead Producer)
Working for FOTW since: 16/07/2012

How long have you worked at FOTW?

Over 8 years!! – Time flies when your having fun!!

What has made you stay at FOTW for so long?

FOTW are very lucky to have such an awesome bunch of people, who are all very talented. We’ve built a tribe vibe where team support is everything.

What’s your favourite piece of work to date at FOTW that you’ve worked on?

There’s quite a few – but some are white labelled but there is one that stands out for me…And that has to be Sky Broadband Xmen from 2016! It was honestly the most challenging project I’ve ever worked on with so many moving parts and a lot of different time zones. It’s still my favourite because of all the learnings, I still use them today and best of all the execution still matches up to work produced in 2020.

Whose work inspires you?

I’m a big fan of Man Vs Machine, The Mill and DNeg.  I’m also a champion for some of the amazing designers we’ve had at FOTW – Daniel Danielsson @motionviking, Luke Georgiou @luke_georgiou, Iain Chudleigh @iain_chudleigh…Go check them out!!

What made you decide to get involved in the creative industry?

Honest answer is, Jurassic Park! I love the magic of VFX and how people can create something from nothing, the guys behind the screens are magicians.

How has COVID changed the way you work?

It has made the importance of relationships more obvious with clients and also with colleagues, the situation created a bond and its all about being more human and making sure you have time! For me personally it has made me slow down and take the time to get to know people more and make sure they have everything they need to succeed for the day!

What are the best qualities to have in a producer? And what do you need to work at FOTW?

Organisation, organisation, organisation.. did I say organisation? Work at FOTW is fast paced you need to have resilience, you need to be agile, you need to be the driver but also leave your ego’s at the door, FOTW’s biggest asset is it’s team vibe

Best quote to describe your role?

“Being a producer is easy, its like riding a bike, except the bike is on fire, you’re on fire and everything is on fire”…
…BUT I’m not in hell! I love what I do and that includes all the highs and low’s

Favourite Film?

If you haven’t guessed already it’s the Jurassic Park / world franchise. Massive Dino and Steven Spielberg fan!

Any advise for the next generation of Producers?

Is Absorb as much knowledge as possible from everyone around you, not just producers. Knowledge is King! And Create amazing relationships that can last, impress don’t express!
